Dalia Khichdi Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 Katori Dalia
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ghee
  • 1 tablespoon Jeera (cumin seeds)
  • 1/2 tablespoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon Haldi powder (turmeric)
  • 1 tablespoon Salt (as per your taste)
  • 1 Cup Hari Matar (green peas)
  • 1 Medium size Tamatar (tomato)
  • 3 Hari Mirch (green chilies)
  • 1250 gm Water

To prepare this delicious Dalia khichdi, start by heating the ghee in a pressure cooker. Once the ghee is hot, add the jeera and let it splutter. Then, incorporate the chopped tamatar and green chilies, sautéing until the tomato becomes soft.

Next, add the Dalia to the cooker and stir for a couple of minutes to lightly roast it, enhancing its nutty flavor. Follow this by adding the red chili powder, haldi powder, and salt. Incorporate the Hari Matar and mix everything well.

Pour in 1250 gm of water, ensuring that all ingredients are submerged. Close the lid of the cooker and cook for 6-7 whistles on medium heat. Once done, allow the pressure to release naturally before opening. Your Dalia khichdi is now ready!
