Onion Stuffed Paratha

Onion Stuffed Paratha

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 medium onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons oil or ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water, as needed

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a soft dough. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.

2. In a pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add cumin seeds, allowing them to splutter.

3. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown. Stir in red chili powder and turmeric, cooking for an additional minute. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool.

4. Once cooled, take a small ball of dough and roll it out into a disc. Place a spoonful of the onion mixture in the center, folding the edges over to enclose the filling.

5. Gently roll out the stuffed dough ball into a flat paratha.

6. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the paratha on both sides until golden brown, brushing with ghee as desired.

7. Serve hot with yogurt or pickles for a delicious meal.
