Dal and Potato Healthy Breakfast Recipe

Ingredients:

Red Lentils(Masoor dal) - 1 cup

Potato - 1 peeled & grated

Carrot - 1/4 cup, grated

Capsicum - 1/4 cup, chopped

Onion - 1/4 cup, chopped

Coriander leaves - Few

Green chilli - 1, chopped

Ginger - 1 tsp, chopped

Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp

Jeera(cumin) powder - 1/2 tsp

Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp

Salt to taste

Water - 1/2 cup or as needed

Oil for roasting

Cooking Directions:

Soak the red lentils (masoor dal) for 30 minutes to 3 hour. Then, rinse well and drain.

In a bowl, blend the soaked dal into a smooth batter.

Peel and grate the potato. Add into the water.

Also, grate the carrot and chop the capsicum, onion, coriander leaves, green chili, and ginger.

Add the grated potato, grated carrot, chopped capsicum, chopped onion, chopped coriander leaves, chopped green chili, chopped ginger, red chili powder, jeera (cumin) powder, pepper powder, and salt to taste to the dal batter. Mix well.

If desired, gradually add water to achieve a pancake batter consistency.

Heat oil on a non-stick pan or griddle over medium heat.

Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the pan and spread it evenly to form a pancake.

Cook until the bottom side is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown and cooked through. Drizzle Oil or butter

Serve hot with your favorite chutney or pickle or yogurt or sauce etc.

Tips:

Choose your choice of lentils

You can ferment the batter if you like.

You can store the batter in the refrigerator and add vegetables when you ready to cook

Choose your choice of vegetables

Adjust the spices as per your taste

Add grated boiled or raw potato

Add water if needed

Roast until as you need the crunchiness

You can call this as Dal chilla, masoor chilla, pesarattu, veggie chilla etc
