Cool and Refreshing Cucumber Chaat
Ingredients:
- 1 medium cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped green coriander leaves (cilantro)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon black salt (kala namak)
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to your spice preference)
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
- Pinch of chaat masala (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped roasted peanuts (optional)
- Cilantro sprig (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Cucumber: Wash and peel the cucumber. Using a sharp knife or mandoline slicer, thinly slice the cucumber. You can also grate the cucumber for a different texture.
- Combine the Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the sliced cucumber, chopped red onion, coriander leaves, and mint leaves (if using).
- Make the Dressing: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the lemon juice, black salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, and chaat masala (if using). Adjust the amount of chili powder according to your spice preference.
- Dress the Chaat: Pour the prepared dressing over the cucumber mixture and toss gently to coat everything evenly.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish the Cucumber Chaat with chopped roasted peanuts (if using) and a sprig of fresh coriander. Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
